In conjunction with our member organisation, Volution Group Plc, CBBC is currently looking to recruit a candidate for the following position, which will be based in Hangzhou.

Volution background information:

 

Volution Group plc is a recently floated (2014) on the London Stock Exchange company. A leading supplier of ventilation products with primary markets in the UK and Northern Europe. Current turnover of around £160 Million.

 

We aim for our products to enhance customers' experience of ventilation by reducing energy, improving design and making them easier to use.

The Ventilation Group consists of 9 key brands supplying ventilation products to the residential and commercial construction market.

Companies within the group include: UK – Vent-Axia, Manrose, Anda, Torin-Sifan & Diffusion. Nordics – Fresh, Pax & Welair, Benelux – Ventilair (Netherlands & Belgium), Germany – Inventer & Bruggemann.

 

We will continue to build on our core strengths and strong industry track record to gain further market share in each of our core geographical markets. We intend to achieve our goals through a combination of organic growth and selective acquisitions.

 

The Role:

To support the Sourcing Manager in co-ordinating Volution’s sourcing activity within the Far East and to assist in defining, sourcing and implementing the company’s Sourcing Strategy, developing standardised quality assurance and control processes to meet both group and EU group company objectives. Assisting the company to monitor the performance of existing Chinese suppliers, and also to identify and liaise with new suppliers who can support specification and quality targets required to meet UK and EU regulatory and market requirements. To set, monitor and feedback to EU supplier quality performance targets.

 

Responsibilities:

§ Act as the key point of contact and liaison with suppliers in China for all Volution companies quality assurance and control requirements, currently 50+ active suppliers with over £13 Million spend.

§ Support the Sourcing Manager and Technical Engineer in ensuring all Cost Saving Initiatives, new Supplier Initiatives and New Product Implementations are prioritised accordingly.  

§ Develop and deliver robust new supplier audit and approval processes, including ongoing factory audits, supplier audit process, improvement plans- taking responsibility for delivery of improvements by the supplier.

§ Develop and deliver new product introduction (NPI) ‘First off’ and ongoing product shipment audit inspection(PSI) programme utilising such quality principles as 6 SIGMA, FMEA, SPC, AQL.

o Develop and monitor ongoing quality KPI’s for all region Suppliers.

§ Support the implementation of alternate sources for key identified categories within year one;

o PCBA’s/Controllers, Motor/Fan systems, factored hygiene products

§ Develop and deliver a comprehension 12 month rolling supplier audit schedule, including shipment inspection programme.

§ Provide EU stakeholders with standardised quality reports for all visits, plus monthly summaries to Head Of Group Procurement in UK.

§ Project manage the assessment of supplier capabilities through factory, capability and ethical audits.

§ Support the implementation of all new product activity within Asia Pacific.

§ Keep abreast of latest quality tool developments, and implement accordingly.

§ Help the technical support develop detailed specifications for all products imported from Asia Pacific.

§ Liaise with suppliers to resolve quality issues and implement robust process improvements, splitting out short term interim containment actions and long term sustainable improvements.

 

Skills & Qualifications:

 

§ Graduate in engineering or similar degree preferred.

§ Minimum of 3 years experience in a technical oriented quality/auditing role.

§ Ideal but not essential to have prior experience within Ventilation or Air Conditioning market.

§ Ideal but not essential to have a quality background within one or more of the following categories; Electronics-PCBA’s/Controllers, Motors/Fans, Injection Moulding technology

§ Ideally have good working knowledge of quality ‘tools’ such as:

o 6 SIGMA, LEAN, FMEA, SPC, AQL

§ Ideally already have good working knowledge of EU/UK laws and regulations relating to CE certification of products, ERP Ventilation products legislation, Low Voltage Directive (LVD), REACH/RoHS, Electromagnetic Compliance (EMC), BS EN60335 (1-11, 7 is critical to Ventilation products).

§ Ideally have experience of auditing according to EU/UK Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI), or SEDEX understanding, specifically with reference to laws relating to anti-bribery and corruption and anti-slavery.

Proven quality and audit background required.

§ Proven ability to work relatively unsupervised and the candidate will spend a large proportion of the time out of the office travelling and visiting current and new suppliers.

§ Proven project management experience, managing conflicting priorities across multiple stakeholders and companies.

§ Ability to work well under pressure, prioritise and work within tight timescales.

§ Self motivated, confident, independent with desire to pursue a career in a fast moving environment.  

§ Highly numerate with excellent analytical skills.

§ Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written

o Other EU language would be desirable, either German or Swedish

§ PC literate with an advanced working knowledge of spreadsheets, including Pivot tables, V-look ups, nested ‘if’ statements etc.

§ Willingness to travel when necessary within whole Asia Pacific region, staying overnight away from home on a regular basis.

o Role will have expected travel requirements around 75% of time.

 

The job holder will report administratively to CBBC’s office managers in Hangzhou, and functionally will report to and be supported by Wayne Wignall, Head of Group Procurement in the UK, but locally report to the Sourcing Manager.
